Who is our plan for?
Our plan is ideal for everyone who recognises that dental wellbeing and a healthy, attractive smile don't just happen - they are achieved through a partnership between patient and dentist.

How does the Waterside Dental Care Plan operate?
In return for a regular monthly payment, our maintenance plan gives you access, without any additional charge, to the services we normally provide to care for our patients' dental health, including regular examinations, the services of our hygienist and routine dental x-rays.

The monthly payment also includes insurance against the cost of treatment for dental injury, emergency treatment when away from home, and the provision of a cash benefit should you be admitted to hospital for dental-related treatment.

What about other types of treatment?
Should treatment be required or requested for cosmetic reasons we offer Waterside Dental Care Plan patients a 15% discount off our standard fees. In the case of dental injury the cost of treatment is covered by the insurance subject to policy terms and limits shown.

How much does it cost?
We offer three plans with associated monthly fees dependent on a patient's current needs with respect to controlling the dental disease.

For example, a dentally-stable patient would usually have one dental examination and two hygiene visits per year, others with more active decay or gum disease would require more visits with the hygienist and/or dentist. Children would normally have three visits per year.

How do I join?
Once the practice has assessed your dental needs and advised you of the category of plan and its associated monthly costs, you will need to complete a registration form and direct debit mandate.

Your cover will start from the first day of the following month.

There is a joining fee of £10 which would be deducted from your first month's direct debit.

What happens if I have an emergency?
If you have an unexpected emergency, such as an accident or toothache, then in normal circumstances you should ring our emergency number: 01706 632661

However, if you are away from home, membership of the plan allows you to call the dental helpline, where you will be put in touch with a dentist who can help.

What's more, if you are overseas when you need help, the dental helpline advisor will endeavour to find an English-speaking dentist to assist you.

How do I claim under the insurance?
If you are away from home and have to see a dentist in an emergency, you should receive the temporary treatment necessary to render you in a comfortable condition.

You pay that dentist and ask for a written receipt and details of treatment carried out. On your return home, we will help you fill in a claim form and forward this to DPAS.

We will also help you fill in a claim form should you need treatment for a dental injury. If the treatment is likely to cost more than £175 (and so require prior authorisation from DPAS) we will provide a costed treatment plan.

An assessment by an independent dentist may be requested before this permanent treatment is authorised.

Ending the arrangement
Should you ever find you want to end your membership of the Waterside Dental Care Plan, you can do so simply by giving us one month's notice.

If amounts due to us are not paid for two consecutive months, we would terminate the arrangement after giving you notice. We will also advise you at least two months before our year-end of any change in your monthly payment for the following year.
