Restorative Dentistry » Natural Looking Dentures
Taking time to get the best result
It is true to say that good dentures can improve your quality of life. At Waterside Dental Care we aim to surpass your expectations and make sure you are perfectly happy that you have an attractive appearance and can eat comfortably. Our reputation for excellent denture provision has been developed over more than thirty years and includes post-graduate experience and tuition from the most eminent specialists in their field.
Providing the dentures to restore your mouth would take place over a number of appointments whilst we take accurate measurements and try the teeth before they are finished, making any desired amendments. We want you to be happy to approve the dentures before they are finished and if appropriate invite you to discuss them with your family or friends, at your home if necessary.
Planning for perfection
Knowledge of modern techniques will ensure your new dentures look and feel wonderful, allowing you to smile and eat with confidence.
We understand that while some people readily adapt to wearing dentures, others constantly have to compromise and this can affect many aspects of their daily lives.
Planning your new dentures takes time and we ask you to consider the following questions to help us create dentures that are just right:
- What do you dislike about your present dentures?
- What improvements would you like, if they are possible?
- Are you happy with the size, colour, shape and position of your teeth?
- Do your dentures fill out your face and support your lips properly?
- Do they allow you to speak clearly?
- What do you like about your current set?
People usually look best when their denture teeth are of a similar size and shape to their natural ones. To help us advise on the correct teeth for you we ask that you show us a photograph of you smiling when your had your natural teeth.
As we get older the colour of our teeth changes and they gradually darken. It can be an instant giveaway when dentures are made with teeth that are too white, too uniform or too perfectly spaced. Recent advances in denture teeth and bases mean we can now offer more natural-looking teeth, to include shades that look realistic and that can even be customised with irregularities such as "fillings" and slight areas of gum staining. We offer a choice of three different grades of denture teeth and base to help us achieve your desired end result.
Dental Implants to help to stabilise loose dentures
If you have problems with loose dentures, dental implants can provide an anchor to help reduce movement and make them feel more comfortable, secure and effective.
Long term care
Our initial consultation includes checks for cancer and other diseases of the mouth.
Long-term we invite you to attend every year so we can repeat this essential screening and also ensure that your dentures continue to meet your requirements, providing a laboratory polishing to maintain their lustre.
A guide to Valplast Dentures
Partial dentures help patients with missing teeth to restore their appearance and ability to speak and chew adequately. They also help to maintain oral health by preventing extra stress on jaw joints.
However some people have found them uncomfortable and the metal claps needed to retain larger dental plates could be unsightly.
Valplast ™ is a new flexible base material for partial dentures made from nylon resin which has many advantages:
- Strong, lightweight and matches natural teeth and gums.
- More comfortable as it can adapt to the shape and movement of your mouth.
- The base is flexible so it is more comfortable to put in and take out.
- Snaps securely and comfortably into place around existing teeth.
- The flexible denture can match the movement of your mouth during speaking, eating, yawning etc.
- Plastic is so strong that denture can be made very thin.
- The very thin plastic can allow natural gum tissue to show through so it blends in.
- Unbreakable, a lifetime guarantee against breaks or fractures.
- No metal claps that might show.
- Look more natural as your natural gum colour can be matched.
- No need to adapt natural teeth to make room for clasps.
