A permanent replacement for missing teeth
Implants can be used in either the upper or lower jaw and advances in treatment can mean that even where bone is limited a successful result can still be achieved, although pre-planning with a bone scan is required.
After placing the implant a healing period of about three months is required for the bone to grow into the implant to secure it into place. It can then be used to support a single tooth crown. Where multiple teeth are missing two implants can support a bridge replacing more teeth, or implants can be used with an attachment to secure an overlying denture.
Same Day Smiles
Waterside Dental Care is privileged to be one of the practices involved with Same Day Smiles™, which means that it is able to offer this exciting new technique for patients of the practice and local patients wishing this service.
After considerable planning, in just one day, failing teeth can be removed, dental implants placed in the appropriate position and a framework with dental teeth can be attached to restore the patient’s appearance and chewing ability. If desired sedation can be provided to help the patient feel more relaxed during the surgical phase.
The initial tooth framework will need to be replaced after a healing period of about six months and during that time our dental hygienist would help the patient maintain scrupulous oral hygiene technique so as not to compromise the integration of the implants into the bone.
After the implants have healed a new framework is constructed to allow for the healing of the bone and gums and to incorporate any aesthetic changes desired by the patient.
All phases of this highly skilled and technical technique are covered in the fee payable to Same Day Smiles™ of £15,950 per arch. Additional fees would be involved for hygiene therapy and sedation, if required.
The benefit of the technique for a patient is that failing teeth can be replaced with a structure that is functionally sound and aesthetically acceptable, so appearance, speech and chewing ability is restored without the need for an intermediate stage of wearing dentures.
